Boteti Let Tafic Off the Hook

TEBOGO TOTENG
Tafic emerged victorious over hard-to crack premier league rookies Boteti Young Fighters in a game that was played under heavy down pour. A solitary first half goal ensured that Tafic emerged victorious and put on track their push for a top eight position by Christmas break. The game started with both team in a cautious gear, with the display providing nothing exciting for the scores of crowds who had braved the torrential rains to witness what was predicted to be a crunching affair.

But the game never lived to expectation with Fighters the better side of the two in the opening minutes of the game. Tafic were twice saved by the woodwork as Boteti sought to inflict a major upset with occasional raids that left Tafic fans biting their nails. Young Fighter’s inability to convert in front of goals was their major undoing. Tafic were able to compose themselves and come back into the game in the late stages of the first affairs but lack of composure in front of goals provided no solace for their efforts.

The second half began under heavy rains and the deteriorating playing conditions made officiating the game a nightmare for the referee. Fighters took the drivers seat after the break while Tafic disintegrated in the midfield which allowed young fighters to string some neat passes in the middle of the park. However the Kenneth Mogae tutored boys could not find the net. It was in the mid of the second half that the referee took centre stage after numerous inconsistent decisions. When he sent Kgakgamatso Pharo marching after a second bookable offence Young Fighters supporters and officials were unimpressed.

“I told the boys that this is the time of the league when referees took side. I could be put on record saying that. I can defend myself,” a berated Boteti young fighters coach Kenneth Mogae said after the game. Mogae said there are putting the game behind them and will be going back to the drawing boards to prepare for the two games they have before the Christmas break.
