Mochudi Centre Chiefs spokesman Clifford Mogomotsi has called for calm among the club fans, maintaining that the departure of successful head coach, Mike Sithole won't affect the team's rhythm in the Mascom Premier League campaign.
In an interview with Gazette Sport on Saturday Mogomotsi declared that the Kgatleng side will be league champions come the end of the season. "There should be no panic; we are still on course, the focus and strategy of the team remains unchanged, to be crowned league champions by the end of the season".
Mogomotsi also told Gazette Sport that they are not in a hurry to look for a coach, adding that new club sponsors diamond cutting and polishing Company Motiganz have assured the club they will bring a high caliber coach from Israel.
"That was part of the deal. They made that pledge, and this could be the right time for the sponsor to bring the new coach. In the meantime, assistant coach Innocent Morapedi remains the acting coach, assisted by Zachariah Muzadzi. Centre Chiefs has in the last two years done well under assistant coaches. If you recall, we finished 2nd in the League last time when assistant coach Daniel Chico Nare was the acting coach."
Mogomotsi also dispelled rumours that some of Centre Chief’s top players could leave with the coach. "All our players are there. Five days since the transfer window opened, no one has called us saying they are interested in our players. The coach left because of his own reasons."
Mogomotsi added, "We fought to keep him, but he was free to go. We have since sat down with our players and explained the situation. We will try to hold on to our players, but when people are keen to go, we will talk. Yo o batlang go tsamaya o tla tsamaya.".
Mogomotsi also explained what the Motiganz partnership entails. He said the company views its relationship with Centre Chiefs as part of its social investment responsibility. He said Motiganz has committed resources that would position centre Chiefs as the best club in the country and continent.
"Their resources cannot be quantified. Some people want to hear us say it is P100 000, or something like that. As I'm speaking right now we are enjoying Motiganz resources. They will be committing those resources to the club for indefinite period. What I can say is that Motiganz is doing a lot for the club."
Mogomotsi said the diamond manufacturer has also pledged to sponsor Centre Chiefs' African Champions League campaign. "That is one big area where local
clubs have failed to excel due to lack of resources, but Motiganz will ensure that we compete smoothly in Africa. Our aim now is to win the League and play in
the Champions League".
