Another Cresta Hotel in Ftown Cresta Marakanelo Group officially opened Cresta Residency Hotel in Francistown last week. This development adds to the already growing hotel and travel industry in the second city which is further supported by a buzzing mining industry in and around the town. The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Toursim, Kitso Mokaila officiated at the opening. He said the hospitality industry is influenced by the quality of the product offered. He called for high standards in the industry and noted that his Ministry has come up with a hotel grading mechanism which ensures that hotels are given appropriate ratings. He said with the 2010 world Cup billed for South Africa just around the corner it is fitting for companies like the Cresta Marakanelo Group to come up with magnificent buildings like the Residency to ensure that Botswana attracts the anticipated tourists. He promised Cresta Group that government will formulate investment friendly policies, legislation and strategies. AGs Chambers launches website The Attorney General’s Chambers officially launched its website last week. The purpose of this particular website, amongst others, is to enhance the Attorney General’s Chambers professional image, provide better customer service and increase awareness of the mandate of the department. The logo is in the form of an open circle or a ‘c’ for Chambers, which denotes unity of purpose, and also gives the impression of a magnifying glass. Within the ‘c’ there is a pen and the volumes of the Laws of Botswana. The pen symbolizes the task of drafting legislation, agreements, opinions and other instruments that fall within the mandate of the Chambers. The slogan ‘quality legal services’ simply expresses the department’s resolve to deliver services that compare with the best in the world Officiating at the event the Minister of Justice Defense and Security, Phandu Skelemani said websites are of paramount importance in the modern world. Skelemani said he was confident that this website will expose the Chambers to a larger audience and indeed the international community. Customers will now have easy access to information and will be able to read about the Chambers and its mandate from the comfort of their desks. The website boasts of an enquiries facility through which customers’ queries and comments will be received and be accordingly processed. Challenges facing the Chambers, will be in keeping the website up-to-date and current. The website is equipped with a content management system that allows even non - IT persons to easily update information. BCL media day BCL held a media day on Friday at Phokoje Bush lodge as part of the Stakeholders Engagement Programme aimed at improving relations with the media. BCL briefed members of the press on Key measures to 2009. The mine believes that the set high level timelines will ensure the achievement of the 2009 objectives.
