Vomit hits the right cord at last ?

It has been a long journey to success for the artist known as Vomit. He tried to look for luck in Ragga music but failed. He later tried his hand at Pop music, but still flopped. As time went on he tried Dikhwaere style before going back to Ragga inspired Tswana pop. A name change from Vomit to Dr. Vom in 2006 is also on the list of his attempts at finding a recipe for success. .

Perseverance has been the name of Vomit’s game, and to his good fortune 2007 ended well for the man who saw five of his last albums flop. By Christmas, his new album Vomit vs. Diparo had already sold 13000 copies and 20 000 more had been ordered from the production plant. .

Vomit believes the success is all down to his collaboration with Eric Ramco Records. "Tex of Eric Ramco approached me and said, “let's try dikhwaere again.” I had tried the same thing few years ago and it did not work. But this track, Thobane has become an instant hit! People sing it everywhere, radio stations play it, even in South Africa. The sales have never seen this since I recorded albums. Even guys like Franco are playing thobane at their shows which says a lot about the impact the song has had." .

Vomit says Tex also advised him to revert to the name Vomit, a year after he decided to drop the name for fear it was a turn off to fans. "Tex just said, “let's try Vomit again because you have been using it for close to ten years now.” I think in the past I was weak on the marketing side. Eric Ramco’s guys are good at marketing. For the first time in my music career, I see posters of my album in the streets, and adverts are being placed on television as well. They know how to sell music these guys." .
